FCS Coronavirus Response

Family & Children’s Service is a primary source of crisis intervention services for our community’s most vulnerable people and the Coronavirus will not change that. We remain committed to serving anyone who needs us—and we are taking steps to do so in a responsible manner.

In order to ensure the safety of both our clients and staff members, while still providing as many of our services as possible, FCS is implementing the following measures:

  • All non-essential public, staff, and client group and face-to-face meetings have been suspended until further notice. And, other than the TN Department of Human Services seeing clients in the Honey Alexander Center, all outside groups and meetings in the facility have been cancelled through mid-April.
  • All FCS staff that are able to do so are working remotely. Those that must work in the FCS offices or at partner agencies and schools are doing so exercising utmost caution and social distancing protocols.
  • The Agency Leadership Team has developed contingency plans for all agency programs in order to continue to provide as many services as possible by phone, email, text, and web-based programs such as Tele-Health. Our goal in all programs is to be as available as possible and continue supports to current clients as we move through this crisis.
  • The Crisis Line will continue to operate uninterrupted as we expect it to be an essential resource for people needing mental health interventions and referrals to social services during this extraordinary time.

If you or someone you know is having a mental health crisis or needs another type of help, please contact the Crisis Line by calling 615-244-7444 or texting 615-502-4373. If you or someone you know has lost health care coverage due to an interruption in employment or is just without coverage, contact our Health Access Team at 615-269-4038.

FCS is monitoring announcements from the CDC, state, and city leadership and will continue to take action as appropriate. Thanks to our generous donors, all FCS services are completely free of charge to anyone who needs them.
