Helping vulnerable children and families succeed and thrive.
Family & Childrens Service is the lead agency for United Way's Family Resource Centers (FRCs) based in one local elementary school in Metro Nashville. Through the Family Resource Center program, we serve some of the most vulnerable families in our community those living at or below the poverty level. FRCs fill gaps in community supports by offering families programs and activities that would not otherwise be available to them. Family Resource Centers stand ready to help individuals and families as they confront everyday issues of life caring for children, literacy issues, transportation problems and availability of food and clothing.
Every family experiences a time when they need some help. For the families we serve through the FRC, unforeseen circumstances can threaten their unity, safety and independence. At Family & Childrens Service we believe in empowering families and helping them to use their strengths to deal successfully with their individual situations.
We provide direct services to families as well as developing creative collaborations with other community organizations such as clinics, schools, libraries, churches, businesses and civic associations that can help families meet their needs.
Community Impact
831 children and 1,328 families benefited from Family & Childrens Service Family Resource Center programs in 2006-07.
